I moved to Jackson Michigan soon after graduating and went to MSU. After getting a BS in Medical Technology, I went to Medical School that took me to the Montserrat in the Caribbean, College of Surgeons in Ireland, London and then back to Detroit to Wayne State where I finished Medical School. I stayed in Detroit for my Residency in Internal Medicine/Critical Care. I moved to Hastings, Mich (just south of Grand Rapids) in 1991 where I currently practice medicine. I have become somewhat politically involved also as the Vice-Chairman of the Board of the Hospital as well as having been Chief of Staff. I have been happily married to Rita (Shaughnessy) since 1988 and have two beautiful girls, Sarah, age 8 (going on 21) and Laura, age 5 (going on 18). I know all the parents out there know what I mean.I would love to hear from anyone that knew me in high school and relive old times.

Upon leaving LWHS I went to Grand Valley State where I traveled the country on the varsity rowing team. I eventually earned a bachelors degreee in Public Health. I liked West Michigan so much that I stayed and worked for several differant employers and in 1994 I finally found the career that I Love and can honestly say that I enjoy going to work every day. I am now a full time professional firefighter for the city of Grand Rapids, MI. I've been married for 6 years. Deb and I have 2 children. Jenna is almost 3 and Luke is 2 months. Yes I got a late start on having a family but I wouldn't change a thing. I still stay in touch with Matt Lewis and Susan Jones and see Penny Wagner every summer at our family reunion. I often wonder what some of the old gang are up to. Larry Sak, Art Schnieder? Does anybody know where they are? I would be happy to receive e-mail from anyone and hope to see you all in August. Until then, take care!

I live in Charleston, South Carolina and love it here. I rarely get home to visit Lapeer, but my family is still there. I graduated with a B.S. degree from Northern Michigan University and it's finally paying off after all this time. I am the Manager of Community Relations for a large hospital system in the area. I have experienced marriage...a couple of times....just haven't had a lot of luck in that department. However, I do have three wonderful children. My oldest is graduating this year and will be going into pre-med at the University of Michigan. Their ages are 18, 15, and 4 (he keeps me young!). I have really lost touch with most all of my classmates since graduation and would like to catch up on things with some of you.

Well lets see, I have 3 sons 24,21,18 and 2 beautiful grandbabies. Blake who is 9 months and Madelyn who is just 5 weeks old. Stayed home with my family all those years til April 8th, 99 changed my life forever. My husband Matt Dorner(Lakeville) suffered a brain stem stroke which left him paralized and me unable to care for him. So left me with choices to take care of myself. We would of been married 25 years in July, but by that time it will be over. And a new life is beginning. I will be moving to MO sometime in Aug. And to make up for all the lost time of not working. Right now im working for Wal-Mart in the Pharmacy Dept. Which I love doing. Which I hope to go back to school and get a degree into the medical field. But who knows what lies for our future. See you all at the class reunion next year. i wont miss that.

After graduation I attended U of M Flint for two years and then transferred to Northern Michigan University. I graduated from there in May,1982 with a B.S degree in accounting. This led to a short term job as the assistant controller at a hotel on Mackinac Island. I returned to Flint and managed to pass the CPA exam, while working for a CPA firm in Flint. I married Craig Johnson in October, 1986, whom I had met on Mackinac Island, 3 years earlier. Since Craig was from the Chicagoland area, we decided it was best to live there. We have lived in a suburb of Chicago ever since and are now currently in Palatine. I was lucky and had found a firm in the Chicago area and began working there a month before getting married. I have now been there 14 years and am a partner in the firm of Detterbeck & Associates. I now have two beautiful daughters who, as of this writing in 2000, are 11 and 9. I am actively involved in a women's group in the area and serve as the treasurer for a local symphony organization and a local chapter of the American Cancer Society. We do return to Lapeer a few times during the year as my parents and brother, John, and his family still live in the area.

After high school, I attended and graduated from Oakland University with a B.S. in Marketing. At the same time, I worked for Pontiac Division in a skilled trades apprentice program and graduated as a Journeyman-Machine Repair. After a few years of that fun, I joined the Vehicle Sales, Service & Marketing group of General Motors and went on the "see America tour". I've been transfered from the Detroit Regional Office to Minneapolis, then on to Birmingham, and now enjoying a stay in Chicago. I have held both sales and service positions responsible for marketing/advertising, product compliance and dealer development activities. In June of 1999, I celebrated my 20th anniversary of service with GM. In July of 1998, I completed my Masters of Science Degree in Management and Business from National Louis University in Wheaton, IL. On a more personal note, I've been married for 16 years to my terrific wife, Karen, and have a 9 year old son, Erik.

My name is Jan Otten. I was an foreign exchange student at LWHS during 1977-1978.This was a super experience for me. I had great fun this year. I ran cross country for LWHS and became most valuable runner in track. After this high school year, I had to go back to my country, the Netherlands. I worked for a year and had to serve the dutch army for 14 months which was required at that time. I married my beautiful wife Klasien in 1984 and we have 3 children. Fockelien 13 - Robert 12 - Roselique 8. I own my own optical business. We produce and sell sunclips and optical frames. We are looking for customers in the USA/Canada. I have been back to the States 7 times since graduation. I already purchased my flight tickets to attend the 25th reunion. I will arrive on the 15th of August and leave on the 21st. I do need a place to stay for a few nights. Does somebody have a suggestion?I am very much looking forward meeting old friends and maybe new ones as well. I wish the organisation all the best, because it is a lot of work. Unfortunately it is hard for me to help because of the long distance. If there is any chance I would like to say a word of thank you during the reunion. You all have given me a wonderful year and would like to express this. I received the official invitation earlier this week and will return it soon. Please keep me posted the coming up months. If anyone is interested in communication with me. please do not hesitate. My e-mail address is: euroframe@planet.nlSee you all in August!!!!!!!!!!

I am currently living in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida and am a Administrative Coordinator for Broward Community College/Institute of Public Safety. Which is better known as the Police Academy. (The academy was featured in the Police Academy Movie, Miami Beach). After graduation I worked at the Sheriff's office and then moved to Las Vegas to attend college. In 1983 I graduated from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas with a BA in Criminal Justice. After graduation I worked in Retail Security and then moved to Florida in 1984. When I frist arrived in Ft. Lauderdale I worked for several large department stores in their security department. After one year I started working in the management office for an apartment complex. In 1992 I attended Nova University and received a Para-legal certificate. I left the property management field and worked at my church as their business manager until I was hired by the State of Florida as an executive secretary for a Judge. Finally using my degree. Thanks to Gov. Jeb Bush and his excellent managerial skills I moved to Broward Community College in 2003. In 2002 I became engaged to Kevin Roy a Sgt. for the Florida Highway Patrol. A few months later we learned he had cancer and passed away in November 2004. I would love to hear from any other graduates from 1978.

Hello, Well, I am back in Lapeer now after having spent time in Hawaii, Colorado and Missouri.I was married for 12 years and should have gotten divorced 13 years earlier then I did. The one good thing from that botched adventure was a son who is now 16 and lives in Missouri with his mother. I remarried to the most wonderful woman ( where the hell was she all those years ago ) 5 years ago. She brought 3 wonderful children ( well, as wonderful as children can be ) into this marriage with her, 2 sons 18 and 16 and finally the daughter I've always wanted ( or so i thought ) who is 14 yet thinks and acts 19 or 20. I was in the marines right out of school and have gone on to become of all things in Michigan a shop rat ( go figure ). Hope to change that soon when I get my CDL here in a couple of weeks. Enough rambling for now. Anyone interested in catching up please feel free to contact me. Hope to hear from you all soon, Kevin

Well, let's see . . . I married Dan Wagner in 1983, and we have a 9-year-old son and a 5-year-old daughter. We live in Davison. I held a few meaningless jobs, then ran a resume-writing business from home for seven years. Sold that in '94 and haven't worked since (not for pay, anyway). Now I'm a homeschool mom, with no plans to EVER put my kids in school. It's much more fun this way. Besides, both my kids have autism, and special ed didn't sound particularly appealing. My son has gone from one end of the autistic spectrum to the other. He's about as "normal" as you can get these days, and we caught my daughter's much quicker, so she's fine too. Of course, I've been doing the 24/7 routine for the past nine years, but it's definitely paid off. Now I'm just beginning a new venture--tutoring kids with ADD/ADHD, autism, you name it. I'm also going to work with other autistic kids to see if I can somehow help them "recover" too. Always seeking a challenge, I guess. Now that my own kids are under control, guess it's time to move on to someone else's!! My hubby works for GM and is going to retire in two years, so I guess I better hurry up and get this new business going. Maybe he can be Mr. Mom, since he'll still be young, and I can start a new career. Nah. I just want to help other kids, and make a little cash in the meantime. I'm completely happy being a homeschool mom. Now, if I could just find the energy to lose about 25 pounds . . . Oh, well. Priorities. First autism, then weight loss!!!

I live in Lapeer and have been married to Allen Weingartz (Imlay City graduate) for 20 years. We have an 18-year-old daughter, Tasha who graduated from West in 1999. She was captain of the Varsity Pom Pon Team and led that team to national competition. She is now a student at St. Clair College in Port Huron and also works for a local plumber. Our son, Kyle, is 14 and in 8th grade at West. He plays football, baseball & runs track but is most serious about football, being captain this year. I was a journalist for several years writing for the County Press and the Flint Journal. I owned Cindi's Family Hairstyling for 15 years until a car accident left me unable to continue. For 4 years I was team director for Lapeer Steelers Football and from '97 until '99 I was Head Coach for the West Varsity Pom Pon Team. My husband works for GM and is also a licensed contractor. Until my accident I worked with him pouring concrete, roofing, building decks and various other construction jobs. For the past 2 years he has been assistant coach of Zemmer/West's 8th grade football team. I was unable to attend our class reunion due to short notice and I hope to hear from a number of you so I can get caught up on what I missed.

After high school, I worked at The County Press and Blue Water Printing where I learned about the printing process. In 1982, I married Kirt West of Clarkston. He brought two beautiful daughters, Heather and Karrie, to the marriage. They have given "him" (I'm too young) grandkids. Just kidding about the "him", I love them dearly. Together we have two children, Erin b.84 and Shane b.87. We currently live in Caro. Kirt works at Merollis Cadillac-GMC, Lapeer. (Tell him I sent ya!) My experience in printing led me to my current position at the Lapeer Education & Technology Center (Vo-Tech). I am the paraprofessional in the Computer Networking / Internet program (formerly Graphics). I am pursuing my Associates Degree in Business at Baker College, Cass City. I am a lifetime Girl Scout after 11 years serving as a troop co-leader in Imlay City. I keep in touch with Karen Strader, Sally Strader, and Mary Granger.
