I enjoy gardening, walking, traveling, reading,playing the piano, feeding the deer and other wild life that venture into my yard,and playing on my computer. I live a couple miles south of East High School in the country.I like spending quiet time drinking coffee on my deck and reading the newspaper. I enjoycooking dinner on the grill and eating outside on my deck. I love water and I love to swim.I am single, I have no children, and I love my cats, Chuck and ShooShoo. I'm sorry to say that the only time I get back to Lapeer now a days is just passing through but I do still get to Whitey's in Davison for the fish, much too often I must add. For someone who really hates the snow, this is the wrong place to be living. You would think I would learn someday. Happy! |
| 1968 | Smith, Mark M. | 10/8/1999 at 11:48:42 PM | I graduated from Lapeer High School in 1968. I married Debbie Day who moved from Lapeer to Canfield, Ohio after her sophomore year. I attended Michigan State University and obtained my BS in Criminal Justice in 1972 and went to work for the Michigan State Police as a Trooper. I retired from the Michigan State Police in November of 1997 after 25 years having served in Blissfield, Jackson, and the Intelligence Unit assigned to Headquarters in Lansing as the project manager of the Statewide Information System (STATIS). In February, 1998 I was appointed by the United States Department of Justice, Bureau of Justice Assistance to the Office of the Attorney General for the State of Pennsylvania as the Law Enforcement Coordinator for the Middle Atlantic-Great Lakes Organized Crime Law Enforcement Network of the Regional Information Sharing System. I am assigned to Michigan and Northwest Ohio. We raised three kids and now have two grand daughters, aged 5 and 2 who live in Naples Florida. Our youngest daughter works at Home Depot in Flint. We built a new home in a private homeowners association in Jackson and are enjoying the "empty nest". Debbie is a retired Dental Hygienist. We have both coached middle school athletics for 15 years at the Jackson Catholic Middle School. I substitute on high school football officiating crews as an Umpire. We enjoy hockey and football. All three of our children have graduated from West, Michael in 1998, Colleen in 1999 and Emily in 2004. I practiced law in Lapeer from 1976 to 1988 and returned to practicing law in Lapeer in 2007. In between I operated Thomas-Bilt Wood Windows in Lapeer. My two interests outside of the law and my family are officiating soccer and Rotary International. I was the District Governor for 63 Rotary Clubs in Michigan and Ontario in 2002-2003. |
